Adopting or buying a pet can be a difficult decision to make. For us, it’s easy. We believe in the power of adoption. Every year animals are put into the shelters across Canada. What most may not understand is the living conditions within these shelters are often not the greatest. A lot of the shelters are a non for profit run by dedicated volunteers. Because of this, it is important to adopt and welcome a new furry friend into your home. Below we have listed some of our best reasons for adopting.
#1 You’ll Save a Life
Unfortunately, 2.7 million adoptable dogs and cats are euthanized in the United States, this is due to the overwhelming increase of animals entering the shelter and less people adopting these kids.
#2 More Affordable
Usually when you adopt a pet, the cost of spay/neuter, first vaccinations (and sometimes even microchipping!) is included in the adoption price, which can save you some of the up front costs of adding a new member to your family. Depending on the animal, you may also save on housebreaking and training expenses.
#3 Your Home will Thank You
Many of the pets from shelters and rescues are already house-trained, which means you’re not only saving a pet’s life, you may be saving your rug. Adopting a mature pet not only gives older animals a second chance, it often means introducing them to your family will be much easier.
